About the Role:

As a Forward TrustSubstance Misuse Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP), you will play a crucial role in the clinical care of individuals experiencing issues with drug and/or alcohol use. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will independently assess, diagnose, and prescribe appropriate medications to support recovery, including substitute prescribing and detox regimes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of service users' physical and mental health.
  • Prescribe and review medication related to substance misuse, including opioid substitution therapy and alcohol detoxification.
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness, adherence, and safety, making timely clinical decisions to adjust treatment plans.
  • Provide harm reduction advice and support for safer use, including naloxone distribution.
  • Liaise closely with GPs, mental health professionals, social workers, and other partners to deliver coordinated care.
  • Support service users with co-occurring mental health or physical health conditions.
  • Contribute to service development, quality assurance, and audits.
