Job description

To leadyour unit within St. Vincents Nursing Home, ensuring that high-quality care toour residents is always being delivered.

Be accountable and responsible for the management of theclinical wings.

Ensure that the needs of the residents in the Wing are assessedand Care Plans are in place for a safe and transparent delivery of care.

Promote and offer active teamwork and positive nursing leadership.

Ensure that care provided is evidence based and that the planning,implementation and evaluation is centred on the resident

Work closely with the Clinical Service Manager, Clinical ServiceDeputy and other managers within St Vincent's Nursing Home to maintain, developand improve the care provided.

Main duties of the job

Lead the nursing team to provide a high standard of person-centred care based on a philosophy, which recognises the resident as an individual.

Promote and maintain good teamwork though the effective use of internal communication where each member of staff is given respect and their individual contribution is valued.

  • Demonstrate active involvement and participation in the management of the home
  • Maintain all necessary documentation with regard to confidentiality and the Data Protection Act and uphold effective and accurate record keeping by ensuring high standards of record and report writing are maintained.

Demonstrate and lead by example in the delivery of care

Be able to act up in the absence of Clinical Service Manager or the Clinical Service Deputy and make sound and considered decisions out of hours.

Maintain the activity and standards within St Vincents, in accordance with our Policies and Procedures

Assess the ability and skills of staff to ensure that they are competent to practice as per policies and procedures within their sphere of practice.

Ensure that all medications are held in safe custody and prescribed according to the St Vincents Medication policy and procedure.

About us

Our modern, purpose-built Care Home, with its own beautifullylandscaped gardens, is located in an idyllic setting on the brow of Haste Hill,right next to Ruislip and Eastcotes historic woodlands. This tranquil andrestful location is easily accessible by car and public transport. We also havethe benefit of our own onsite car park.

The Home is built over two floors and is divided into fourwings, with a total of 62 residents in total. Each wing has a day timeteam consisting of a registered nurse and four experienced carers.

Job responsibilities

Provide clinical support and guidancewithin the nursing care team.

Mentor your team to upskill and supportthem.

Support your team with competency basedmonitoring and training around the Care Certificate.

Provide strong leadership in theclinical environment using the core skills of facilitation, negotiation,conflict resolution, teaching and delegation.

Ensure adequate staffing at all times.

Manage the ordering and administration ofmedication for all residents.

Monitor staff performance and conduct.

Conduct annual appraisals with all directreports.

Ensure safe systems of work are in linewith St Vincent's Nursing Home requirements.

Represent the Home on Health &Safety matters.

Participate in and lead organisationalclinical and nursing audit programmes.

Support Governance in the investigationof incidents, accidents and complaints.

Induct new staff and organise training.

Work closely with the other Nurse Managerson a rotational basis.

Keep accurate records of day-to-daypractice.

Adhere to the requirements ofconfidentiality in relation to residents and staff by referring to theSafeguarding and GDPR policies St Vincent's Nursing Home and CQC.

To ensure personal compliance with StVincent's Nursing Home Policies and Procedures including Health & Safetyand Security Regulations.

To maintain desired standards ofbehaviour, dress and general appearance.

Complete mandatory training relevant toyour role.
