We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic clinical nurse specialist to join our Gynae oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) team as a qualified full-time Nurse Hysteroscopist.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide diagnostic hysteroscopy and therapeutic management to women with suspected gynecological malignancy and must be an accredited hysteroscopist with the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BGSE).

They will offer an autonomous, nurse-led service for women referred under the gynaecological suspected cancer pathway, particularly for postmenopausal bleeding and other menstrual issues requiring hysteroscopic examination.

The role also includes educational and research responsibilities, working with the multidisciplinary team to enhance gynecological services, aligning with clinical governance and policy standards.

The post requires a competent nurse hysteroscopist capable of providing expert care, ensuring safe clinical practice, and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with NMC standards, Trust policies, and Department of Health guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Nurse Hysteroscopist (BGSE accredited)
  • Registered Nurse, degree level
  • Degree in Nursing and/or Cancer Care
  • Working towards or possessing a Master’s degree in relevant fields
  • Proficient in Mirena IUS insertion and willing to be trained
  • Advanced Nurse Practitioner Master’s or equivalent
  • Teaching and education qualification
  • Proficiency in pelvic ultrasound
  • Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
  • Physical Assessment Course

Experience

  • Band 7 experience in gynecology or oncology
  • Providing care for women with menstrual disorders or suspected gynecological cancer
  • Managing referrals and following protocols from trusted authorities
  • Experience in clinical research and audits

Knowledge

  • Understanding of the Faster Diagnosis System (FDS) for cancer services
  • Knowledge of women’s health and female pelvic anatomy
  • Clinical skills in gynecological cancer treatments, menstrual disorders, and benign conditions
  • Understanding of clinical and shared governance, quality strategies, and care pathways
  • Knowledge of gynae-oncology patient pathways
