A prominent health organization in Cardiff is seeking a Nurse Consultant to lead strategic and clinical initiatives in sexual health within the Communicable Disease Inclusion Health Programme. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in public health and sexual health, along with proven leadership abilities. This is a fixed-term role for 22 months, focused on improving health services across NHS and social care sectors in Wales.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Consultant to provide specialist strategic and clinical leadership in sexual health as part of the Communicable Disease Inclusion Health Programme in Health Protection Division. This is a pivotal national role where you will work closely with the senior leadership team in Health Protection to shape and implement strategic and operational plans that influence policy, deliver high quality services to protect and improve public health, and collaborate with professionals working across NHS and non-NHS sectors in Wales.
About You:
You will be a seniornurse with a strong background in public health, sexual health, clinical leadership, and with experience of working at a national or strategic level. You will have proven skills in influencing policy, leading multidisciplinary teams, and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee delivery of high quality sexual health services as provided through CDIHP (notably the Test & Post service) and to drive improvements to enhance public health protection and improvement.
Provide specialist advice to inform and shape long-term strategic plans for sexual health across NHS and social care sectors in Wales.
Lead the development of national policies, care pathways, and standards, ensuring they are effectively implemented and maintained across Wales.
Act as a strategic link between Public Health Wales, Welsh Government, and frontline practitioners, ensuring timely and effective dissemination of guidance.
Deliver expert clinical leadership to stakeholders, influencing best practice and fostering collaboration across sectors.
Identify education and training needs, negotiating and supporting the development of professional learning initiatives.
Support national research and development efforts by collaborating on evidence-based programmes and service redesign.
Maintain nurse consultant-level practitioner expertise in line with the Professional Framework for Enhanced, Advanced and Consultant Clinical Practice in Wales.
Be a key member of the Communicable Disease and Inclusion Health Programme (CDIHP) leadership team, bringing a specific emphasis on sexual health.
