About the Role

East Anglia's Children's Hospices, EACH, are looking for a experienced children's, adult or learning disabilities nurse who want to work within a multidisciplined team,delivering holistic nursing care and support to babies, children and young people with palliative and end of life care needs and their families.

The role will be based at The Treehouse Hospice in Ipswich and is offered on a permanent full or part-time basis with a minimum expectation of 24 hours per week.

As a band 6 nurse, you will lead the shift, taking responsibility for coordinating the team on duty, ensuring that all required care is allocated and actioned for that shift for that shift are in place and undertake day-to-day operational duties as required.

Our service is provided in a 24/7, 365 day environment; shifts include weekend & Bank Holidays

Our standard shift structure is 12 1/2 hour shifts (includes unpaid break)

Day shift - 7:30am-8:00pm/Night shift - 7:30pm-8:00am/Homecare shift - in the community (hours vary).

With enhanced rates as follows;

+30% Saturdays and evenings

+60% Sundays and bank holidays

Competitive on-call rates

Main responsibilities include:
  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care involving use of a wide range of clinical skills.
  • Deliver holistic nursing care and support to babies, children and young people with palliative and end of life care needs and their families.
  • Lead and co-ordinate shifts and undertake day-to-day operational duties as required.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans to meet the diverse and individual needs of babies, children, young people and their families, ensuring holistic care provided is family centred, needs led, evidence informed and meets all statutory requirements.
  • Implement symptom management, escalation and advance care plans, evaluating them in partnership with the children or young people and their families under the direction of a clinical nurse specialist, matron or nurse consultant.
  • Delegate nursing care to senior care assistants.
  • Lead and coordinate shifts.
  • Maintain clinical records using both paper-based and SystmOne electronic care records system in accordance with best practice guidance.
You may occasionally be asked to work at other locations and in the families homes.

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • Qualified registered nursewith demonstrable experience of caring for babies, children or young people.
  • Knowledge of current legislationrelating to babies, children andyoung people, including bestpractice in safeguarding children.
  • Knowledge and understanding ofsocial care.
  • Mentor qualification or willingnessto work towards it.
  • Shift leading in a paediatric setting.
  • Evidence of mentoring teammembers.
  • Strong clinical skill set
  • Working with children withcomplex needs and/or palliativecare.
  • Post registration experience withdemonstrated experience ofdelivering a wide range of clinicalskills, including intravenoustherapy.
  • Highly motivated person who goes the extra mile.
  • Enthusiastic, forward-thinking and professional individual.
  • Aspiring to make a real difference to the lives of babies, children and young people with life-threatening conditions, and their families.
  • You will require a full UK driving license and access to own vehicle for this position.
