Job description

The Barnsley Primary Care Network is seeking to recruit Qualified Nurse Associates to join our clinical team. These roles will be based at assigned practices within our network, supported by a Practice Nurse for mentorship. Practice location to be confirmed.

The Nursing Associate will work alongside Registered Nurses and the multidisciplinary team to provide and monitor patient care, contributing to assessments and supporting patients in managing their health. They will be based in Huddersfield Road Surgery, with full-time and part-time (Tuesday to Friday) options available.

Main duties of the job

The Nurse Associate will support the delivery of quality nursing care, requiring registration with the NMC, independence in work, excellent communication skills, and the ability to meet targets. The role offers opportunities for professional development within primary care.

Job responsibilities

Primary duties include:

  • Administering immunisations and health promotion advice
  • Supporting infection control and flu planning
  • Monitoring patient health and supporting care planning
  • Recognising health issues and referring to senior staff as needed
  • Performing baseline observations and managing physical health conditions
  • Supporting mental health and substance misuse interventions
  • Using therapeutic techniques and effective communication skills

Teamwork and quality improvement

  • Supervising trainees and volunteers
  • Participating in audits and safety activities
  • Escalating risks and safeguarding concerns appropriately

Integrated care and information management

  • Referring to community services and managing care transitions
  • Accurately recording in patient records and maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications
  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register
  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or equivalent
Experience
  • Primary care experience
  • Experience as a Healthcare Assistant in general practice
  • Experience with clinical systems like SystmOne
