MELKSHAM GARDENS – A BRAND-NEW CARE HOME OPENING IN 2027

Be part of something from the very beginning.

We’re looking for experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses to join the team at Melksham Gardens, our brand-new 80-bed care home in Melksham.

RECRUITMENT OPEN DAY

Come and meet the team and find out more:

Wednesday 21st October10am – 3pmMelksham Town Hall – Council Chamber

Come along to find out more about Melksham Gardens, the Nurse role and what it’s like to be part of a brand-new care home team. We’d love to meet you!

A LITTLE ABOUT MELKSHAM GARDENS

Our new purpose-built home on Longleaze Lane will provide residential, nursing and dementia care, alongside respite and day care.

The home will feature 80 en-suite bedrooms, landscaped gardens, private dining, a cinema, gym and wellbeing facilities, activities room, salon and spa, and family accommodation. Innovative technology, including circadian lighting and acoustic monitoring, will support our person-centred approach to care.

Designed around residents’ comfort, wellbeing and independence, Melksham Gardens will provide a welcoming environment where residents can feel safe, valued and supported while receiving the highest standards of care.

A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY

Joining a brand-new home is exciting – but it is also different.

Depending on the progress of the home, you may join us during the preparation and mobilisation period or as we welcome our first residents. Your exact start date may therefore be subject to change and could be later than initially anticipated.

The early stages will be different from working in an established care home as the team comes together and the home prepares to welcome its first residents. We’re looking for Nurses who are adaptable, confident in their clinical abilities and excited to help shape a home from the very beginning.

Your clinical knowledge, experience and leadership will be invaluable as we establish our care standards, develop effective ways of working and create a positive culture. You’ll play a key role in ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate and person-centred care from the moment the home opens.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a Registered Nurse who thrives on making a real and positive difference to the lives of older people?

Are you qualified and currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)?

Our care teams make a real difference every day, and your professionalism, kindness and compassion will be at the heart of everything you do.

At times, you may be the only nurse on shift, taking responsibility for leading and supporting the care team to ensure high standards of nursing and personal care are maintained. You’ll provide clinical leadership and guidance where necessary, helping colleagues deliver the best possible care and ensuring residents’ needs are recognised and met.

You’ll assess, plan, deliver, monitor and evaluate care in partnership with each resident, their families, key carers and the wider team. You’ll also liaise effectively with GPs, hospitals and external agencies to ensure residents receive coordinated care and support.

The role is incredibly rewarding, offering a wide range of clinical experiences to develop your skills and opportunities for career progression, all within a nurturing, engaging and rewarding environment.

As part of a brand-new home, you’ll have the opportunity to help establish clinical standards, support colleagues as the team grows and contribute to a culture where residents’ dignity, independence and wellbeing are always prioritised.

ABOUT YOU

You’ll be a qualified Registered General Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse, currently registered with the NMC.

You’ll have post-registration experience, be able to demonstrate continuing professional development and feel confident working autonomously. You’ll also have a clear understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks and the importance of maintaining safe, effective and person-centred care.

You’ll have experience in, or be willing to undertake training in, the following clinical areas:

  • Medication administration
  • Catheterisation
  • End-of-life care
  • Verification of death
  • Syringe drivers
  • Gastrostomy care
  • Venepuncture
  • Diabetic awareness
  • Tissue viability
  • Epilepsy awareness
  • Management of deterioration and sepsis awareness

You’ll be a positive role model with excellent communication skills and a natural ability to build strong working relationships. As a supportive and approachable leader, you’ll motivate colleagues, share your knowledge and encourage your team to deliver the highest standards of care.

You’ll be adaptable, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility, with the clinical judgement to respond effectively to changing situations. Most importantly, you’ll be passionate about improving the lives of older people and enthusiastic about helping establish a new care home where residents feel safe, respected and valued.

AND IN RETURN

The rewards for our Nurses are great. Our roles offer greater flexibility in working patterns, more autonomy in decision-making and the opportunity to build close relationships with residents through a consultative, case-management approach to care.

The Trust is a great place to work. We’ve been providing care for almost 1,000 years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in.

We’re committed to supporting our colleagues to grow and develop, offering opportunities for training and professional development within a nurturing, engaging and rewarding environment.

Here are some of the benefits you’ll enjoy as a valued member of our team:

  • 30 days holiday (including Bank Holidays)
  • Fully funded renewal of your NMC PIN
  • Payment of Tier 2 visa application fee for eligible nurses
  • A Company pension
  • Free uniform
  • Free DBS
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme
  • Refer a Friend scheme, rewarding you up to £1,000 for every recommendation who successfully starts working for us
  • Blue Light Card and “My Rewards” programme, offering discounts on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more
BE PART OF THE BEGINNING

If you’re a Registered Nurse with the clinical expertise, compassion and confidence to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Come and help us make Melksham Gardens a truly exceptional place to live, work and belong. Join us from the very beginning and play a key role in building a dedicated team, establishing excellent clinical standards and delivering outstanding care to our residents.

We reserve the right to close this role before the closing date, with no advance notice. We do encourage you to complete an application as soon as possible if interested.
