Location: Blackwood, South Wales

Job Type: Full-Time, Monday-Friday (8:30am - 3:00pm)

Salary: From £89 per day

Teaching Personnel is working with a modern and inclusive secondary school in Blackwood to recruit a Numeracy Intervention Teaching Assistant. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, adaptable, and enthusiastic about education—especially in supporting learners who struggle with mathematics.

You will work with small groups (typically 3-4 students), helping to boost their confidence and understanding in numeracy through structured interventions. The school is known for its innovative approach to learning and its commitment to developing happy, healthy, and independent learners.

  • Deliver targeted numeracy support to small groups of students
  • Encourage and motivate learners to engage with maths in a supportive environment
  • Follow safeguarding policies and school procedures at all times
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • Adapt your approach based on pupil needs and learning styles
  • Support classroom teachers where required and contribute to the wider school community

Minimum requirements include:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS (or willingness to apply—support provided)
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)—guidance provided
  • Two professional references covering the last 24 months
  • Strong understanding of numeracy concepts and confidence in explaining maths

Preferred experience:

  • Experience working with children, especially in a school or SEN setting
  • Personal or voluntary experience supporting learners with additional needs
