The Nuclear Site Licence Manager will be part of the safety, licensing and assurance function, reporting to the Safety License and Assurance (SLA) Director, who is responsible for all aspects of nuclear safety and assurance interface management requirements. The SLA function is accountable for the setting of standards and strategies for delivery to meet GBN’s HSSEQ policies, including risk and assurance, regulatory, consents, licensing and permitting and quality.
The Nuclear Site Licence (NSL) Manager will set the strategic direction of nuclear site licensing activities for the SMR, by developing and implementing a licensing strategy for the project and leading relevant regulatory engagement. They will provide guidance on the development of the organisational capability and management arrangements for the project, setting the foundation for a future project organisation to be a successful Nuclear Site Licensee. They will be responsible for preparing organisation wide submissions in support of nuclear site licensing, preparing compliance demonstrations and working in conjunction with environmental and security colleagues to develop a coherent suite of submissions that support delivery of the SMR Project.
The role will involve extensive liaison with regulatory bodies (e.g., HSE, ONR, EA/NRW).
You will form part of the establishment of a major programme. This will provide you with an opportunity to be part of a team that ensures successful delivery of a First of a Kind (FOAK) UK SMR Project, helping to ensure that it minimises its environmental impact whilst delivering cost-effective energy capacity. Whilst this is a fast-paced and exciting challenge, you will need to be comfortable with uncertainty, ambiguity and change.
