Our values, ‘supportive, open-minded, fair and accountable,’ shape how we work. Use your professional expertise to make a positive impact. Be part of a team committed to being a modern, transparent regulator delivering trusted outcomes and value. And, support our mission to protect society by securing safe nuclear operations. As a Nuclear Safety Inspector – Supply Chain, you’ll play a vital part in this work and bring credibility to everything you do.

What you’ll be doing
  • The nuclear industry is evolving fast – and you’ll be central to its transformation. Your work will be critical to the decarbonisation of the UK’s economy; our national defence, energy security; and the decommissioning of our nuclear legacy.
  • As a Supply Chain Inspector, you will assess duty holders’ supply chain management arrangements, which ensure the delivery of nuclear plant, equipment, and services safely and ‘right first time.’ It involves establishing whether duty holders have adequately considered safety when developing its supply chain strategies.
  • A fundamental element of the arrangements are the duty holders’ procurement processes. You’ll influence duty holders to deploy adequate oversight and assurance arrangements for all organisations that provide high risk nuclear plant, equipment, and services. There may also be the chance to represent ONR/UK nationally and internationally.
  • From day one, you can expect thorough training. This will ensure you have the regulatory abilities required in this crucial role.
What you need to be great for this role
  • A degree (or equivalent) in a Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline and membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Considerable experience of supply chain management in the nuclear sector, or equivalent high hazard industry, delivering ‘right first time,’ plant, equipment, and services.
  • Ability to understand technical specifications, procurement processes, oversight and assurance arrangements and the application of relevant codes, standards, legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain quality management arrangements related to the acquisition of high-risk plant and equipment.
  • Strong communication skills with a range of contacts, judgment on complex technical issues, and the ability to influence others. Requires respect, credibility and humility to connect with and persuade duty holders.
