Nuclear Safety Assurance Consultant

Location: Home working with occasional visits to offices (HO in Bristol) / client site

Clearance Required: SC

The Opportunity

As part of our growing nuclear business, we are seeking experienced Nuclear Safety Assurance professionals with expertise in submarine power plants, civil nuclear, and/or naval nuclear facilities.

This is a fantastic opportunity for self-starters to join a reputable, expanding company. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping our company's growth.

Daily responsibilities include working with clients to provide specialist consultancy services and supporting business development activities. You will apply your engineering knowledge to influence the design, operation, and maintenance of complex systems, ensuring that technical risks are identified, communicated, and managed, and that system safety is maintained.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should ideally have:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Science (essential).
  2. At least 6 years of experience in nuclear safety assurance, including:
  3. Execution of Systems Safety activities (e.g., operational safety case development, hazard listing, fault schedule development, safety case report writing, HAZOP, Bow Tie analysis, ALARP optioneering) (essential).
  4. Execution of Deterministic Safety Assessments (design basis and beyond, safety functional requirements) (essential).
  5. Knowledge of Authorising Conditions and Licensing Conditions for nuclear sites (essential).
  6. Knowledge of PWR2 or PWR3 (desirable).
  7. Experience with Probabilistic Safety Assessments (desirable).
  8. Radiological consequence assessment experience (desirable).
  9. Client management and stakeholder engagement skills (desirable).
  10. Chartered Engineer status with the UK Engineering Council (desirable).
  11. Previous consultancy experience (desirable).

Candidates must undergo pre-employment screening and meet UK National Security Vetting clearance criteria.
