Job summary

The University of Manchester invites applications for a Dalton Research Fellow, an early-stage academic role in nuclear science or engineering. The Fellow will develop world-leading research, aim to secure external funding, and supervise postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers while engaging with the nuclear sector and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• We have a PhD requirement or equivalent qualification/experience.
• Ability to develop a coherent world-leading research programme.
• Ability to plan and build a team and deliver outstanding results.
• A clear understanding of the impact of research on the nuclear sector with industry or government stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and conduct world-leading research
• Win external funding for research
• Supervise postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers
• Engage with the nuclear sector and form positive working relationship between and across external academic, industrial and policy stakeholders
• Actively contribute to the Dalton nuclear community (e.g. engage in Dalton outreach activities, Dalton early career researcher development and networking, and/or contribute to the Dalton policy group)
