Job description

A unique opportunity has arisen to join the Reactors Programme at a high-profile site in Thurso as a Environmental Advisor on a lucrative one year contract basis. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about environmental protection and looking to build a career in a technically challenging and highly regulated environment.

About the Role
You will support the site's environmental compliance and contribute to maintaining high standards under environmental legislation and the environmental safety strategy. With full training, coaching, and mentoring provided, this role offers a clear development path toward becoming a qualified Environmental Advisor.
Key Responsibilities

• Undertake the site’s structured Environmental Advisor training scheme
• Gain practical experience through on-the-job learning and mentorship
• Support senior environmental team members with compliance-related tasks
• Contribute to the review and development of environmental management system documents in line with ISO:14001
• Assist in the preparation of Best Practicable Means (BPM) documentation, environmental aspect assessments, and advisory notes
• Carry out environmental surveys, inspections, and audits
• Analyse and interpret environmental data to support decision-making
• Understand and help ensure compliance with environmental permits and licence conditions
• Engage with site regulators and external stakeholders
• Promote environmental awareness and the reporting of environmental occurrences (UNORs)

About you:
This role is suited to individuals with a strong interest in environmental matters—whether you're a recent graduate or early in your environmental career. While previous experience is advantageous, it is not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided.
