Job summary

Wood is recruiting an experienced Commissioning Environment Engineer to support EDF at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater. This 12-month PAYE contract role handles environmental safety and compliance across the HPC commissioning programme, reporting to the Commissioning Environment Lead and working with multiple delivery teams.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in an environment-related discipline.
• Experience with environmental compliance in regulated industries.
• Experience writing and reviewing environmental specifications and risk assessments.
• Knowledge of UK environmental permitting and waste management framework.
• Knowledge of groundwater, surface water and soil assessment.
• Strong ability to present complex data clearly to stakeholders.
• CTC level security clearance or ability to obtain it.
• Experience in construction environments and nuclear plants.
• Familiar with Environmental compliance with regulators (ONR/EA).

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and improve Environmental Safety controls across the Commissioning programme.
• Coordinate and review Environmental activities per Safety Management System and Environmental Plans.
• Produce environmental safety performance reports and trend analyses.
• Engage with the commissioning team on environmental risks and mitigation.
• Support regulatory interfaces and ensure legal compliance.
• Undertake risk-based assessments, inspections and assurance activities.
• Provide assurance on compliance with duties and reporting.
• Collaborate with Health, Safety and Environmental professionals across HPC.
• Support Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Incident Management.
