Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Epsom seeks an experienced Principal Civil Structural Engineer to lead nuclear structural design and safety-related assessments. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to major programmes including Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with safety case specialists, and help secure future work while delivering high-quality engineering solutions in a hybrid working environment.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer status with IStructE, ICE, or equivalent.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Deep technical experience in nuclear structural design and safety-related engineering.
• Ability to collaborate across safety case and hazard specialists.
• Strategic mindset with focus on client engagement and bid development.

Responsibilities

• Apply expertise in analysis and design of nuclear safety‑related structures or assess existing facilities.
• Collaborate with safety case, hazard specialists to develop safety functional requirements.
• Lead multidisciplinary engineering projects delivering high-quality results on time.
• Guide and mentor teams, supporting engineer development and technical oversight.
• Build relationships with clients and stakeholders, understanding needs and delivering solutions.
• Contribute to growth through bid development and securing new work.
