Job summary

Amentum's Scientific Testing & Experimentation (ST&E) team in Birchwood, Warrington, is seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Technician. You will support laboratories and consultants on nuclear-industry projects, handling sample prep, processing and analysis, and operating lab equipment safely.

You'll join a highly skilled team, contribute to quality and safety, and help maintain equipment and documentation while upholding COSHH and QA/QC standards in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above, including maths and English, plus at least 2 other science, technical or engineering subjects.
• A Level Chemistry at Grade C or above.
• Hands-on laboratory working aptitude and practical skills.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with a strong safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking routine sample preparation and laboratory activities in accordance with approved methods and procedures.
• Operating laboratory equipment and instrumentation following approved training and authorization.
• Preparing chemicals, reagents, standards and laboratory materials.
• Carrying out routine checks, calibrations and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Accurately recording laboratory activities and quality documentation.
• Supporting analysts and technical staff with client and project work.
