Job description

Core subject (Maths, English, or Science) SEN / SEND Tutors for Young People with SEND, SEMH, and other Additional Educational Needs required in Merseyside.

Multiple positions are available and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support.

We are on a mission to transform the quality of education provided to young people with SEN (Special Education Needs) / SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities), as well as other needs such as SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). We are increasingly supporting children and young people with MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties).

We are looking for SEN / SEND tutors with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners in Merseyside.

At Targeted Provision, our mission is to raise the standard of educational support offered to vulnerable young people in the UK. We keep the team around the child, and you will be supported throughout every placement by our team of SEN / SEND Support Specialists.

This role is perfect for qualified SEN / SEND teachers eager to work via 1:1 tutoring with children and young people with diverse learning needs, in a creative, flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed manner to raise their engagement and improve their educational outlook.

The SEN / SEND Tutor role:
  • Providing Maths, English, or Science tuition to young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other needs referred to Targeted Provision
  • Supporting young people in their educational and social-emotional journeys through flexible, trauma-informed tutoring and mentoring
SEN / SEND Tutor tasks and responsibilities:
  • Planning each teaching, tutoring, and mentoring session
  • Delivering holistic and engaging sessions tailored to individual needs
  • Completing lesson reports and providing feedback on progress
SEN / SEND Tutor requirements:
  • Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS)
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience
  • Experience working with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, or other needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding processes
  • Enhanced DBS (assistance available to obtain)
  • Two professional references
  • Based in the UK with right to work, including for remote assignments

Ability to promote health, safety, and wellbeing in accordance with safeguarding policies is mandatory.

SEN / SEND Tutor employment status:
  • Engagement as a Worker for short-term placements
  • Paid via PAYE through a contract for service
  • No set work amount or expenses coverage
  • Insurance covers work performed for us
  • Not a self-employed position
