Job summary

Targeted Provision Ltd is seeking experienced SEND tutors for one-to-one tuition with children and young people across South Yorkshire and the UK. The role offers flexible, part-time placements with home-based planning, reporting, and occasional in-person sessions.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of teaching or tutoring with SEND needs, hold QTS or QTLS, and can teach English, Maths, or Science. DBS enhanced and right to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of teaching or tutoring experience with SEMH/ SEND needs.
• Experience working with children and young people in educational settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one tutoring in English, Maths or Science for children aged 4-18.
• Plan, prep, and report from home; some in-person sessions.
• Complete per-session reports using provided templates.

Job description

You'll work with vulnerable young people, one at a time, on their terms - none of the teaching-at-scale trade-off, less admin, just one person and the part of teaching you care about. We're recruiting experienced SEND tutors in South Yorkshire, £28 - £35 per hour, for one-to-one tuition with children and young people who've fallen out of mainstream education, or never been properly served by it.

How We Work

Day to day

• One-to-one tuition in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18, referred by Local Authorities and schools.
• Sessions typically 1-2 hours, in-person - often in the home, sometimes in school or a community setting, occasionally hybrid, usually within school hours.
• Most learners have SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs; many are out of school or at risk of being so.
• Per-session reports supported by templates and your SEND Support Specialist.

You'll need

• Experience: 2+ years' teaching or tutoring, including substantial hands-on work with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs.
• Qualification: QTS or QTLS, or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
• Subjects: Confidence teaching English, Maths, or Science at one or more Key Stages.
• Safeguarding: It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help arrange this) and two professional references.
• Right to work: UK-based with right to work in the UK.
