Job summary

Targeted Provision Ltd is recruiting experienced SEND tutors for one-to-one sessions with children and young people in County Durham. Earn £28-£35 per hour with flexible, part-time placements and the option to work from home. Training and support from SEMH specialists help you tailor trauma-informed tuition.

Engage with learners referred by Local Authorities and schools, delivering English, Maths, or Science sessions. DBS and references required; UK work rights essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience.
• Experience with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs.
• Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent is required.
• Ability to promote safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• DBS clearance and two professional references are required.
• UK-based with right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one tuition in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18.
• Sessions typically 1–2 hours, in-person or hybrid.
• Plan, prep, and report from home using templates.
• Submit per-session reports through SEND Support Specialist.

Job description

You'll work with vulnerable young people, one at a time, on their terms - none of the teaching-at-scale trade-off, less admin, just one person and the part of teaching you care about. We're recruiting experienced SEND tutors in County Durham, £28 - £35 per hour, for one-to-one tuition with children and young people who've fallen out of mainstream education, or never been properly served by it.

Day to day

• One-to-one tuition in English, Maths, or Science to children aged 4-18, referred by Local Authorities and schools.
• Sessions typically 1-2 hours, in-person - often in the home, sometimes in school or a community setting, occasionally hybrid, usually within school hours.
• Most learners have SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs; many are out of school or at risk of being so.
• Per-session reports supported by templates and your SEND Support Specialist.

You'll need

• Experience: 2+ years' teaching or tutoring, including substantial hands-on work with SEMH, ADHD, ASC, MLD, SLD, or other SEND needs.
• Qualification: QTS or QTLS, or an equivalent specialist teaching qualification.
• Subjects: Confidence teaching English, Maths, or Science at one or more Key Stages.
• Safeguarding: It is a strict requirement that you have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Compliance: Enhanced DBS (we can help arrange this) and two professional references.
• Right to work: UK-based with right to work in the UK.
