Are you ready to lead meaningful change and shape the future of quality improvement in NHS Grampian?

We are offering an exciting secondment opportunity for a skilled and motivated individual to join our Quality Improvement and Assurance Team (QIAT) as part of our senior management team. This role has been strategically commissioned to deliver a focused programme of work that strengthens our improvement infrastructure and aligns local efforts with national priorities.

Why This Role Matters

NHS Grampian is at a pivotal point. With the launch of Scotland’s NHS Renewal Framework and the development of our service plans, we are committed to embedding a more proactive, coordinated, and value-driven approach to quality improvement (QI). This role will be central to that transformation—supporting the shift from reactive assurance to proactive improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide mentoring and oversight to QI facilitators and coordinators
  • Map and assess QI activity across NHS Grampian
  • Engage QI alumni to support organisational priorities
  • Support the development of a regional QI forum
  • Develop value and return-on-investment measures for QI work
  • Align national programmes (e.g., SPSP and audits) with local initiatives

What We’re Looking For

  • Has completed ScIL, ScLIP, or the Scottish Quality & Safety Fellowship
  • Brings strong experience in QI project leadership and line management
  • Understands national QI programmes and significant adverse event reviews
  • Demonstrates expertise in QI methodology, strategic thinking, and change leadership

What Success Looks Like

By the end of the secondment, you’ll have delivered a clear set of outputs, including:

  • A mapped overview of QI activity and capability
  • A regional QI forum in operation
  • A final report with recommendations for future strategy

Interview date will be Thursday 21 August in person in Aberdeen.
