Role Overview:

Based within the Domestic Abuse Team, but working across a range of services, you will provide advice and expertise to Council staff and partner organisations in supporting residents with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF). This will include managing and resolving casework, and assisting and signposting individuals to engage with support services. You will maintain records of residents with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) being supported by Oldham Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To establish and maintain records of individuals and households with NRPF being supported by Oldham Council, recording them on NRPF Connect in a timely manner.
  • To assess individuals’ needs, in line with service eligibility guidelines and procedures including establishing their identity, immigration status and eligibility for support
  • To support the development and delivery of training and presentations related to NRPF and the role of services so that colleagues are able to develop their own expertise in this area.
  • To work with colleagues to make informed referrals and provide support to other statutory and Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector (VCFS) partners to aid case-resolution approaches.

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • To be qualified to NVQ level 3 in a relevant field such as Child Care, Health and Social Care or have equivalent relevant experience and the ability to deliver work of the required level of expertise and knowledge
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and resilience when working with families who are facing complex challenges and may be reluctant to engage with services
  • Experience of working effectively in partnership with professionals from different disciplines, such as schools, health and the voluntary sector
  • Knowledge of the roles of different services (including statutory housing and social care and domestic abuse services) in supporting residents with NRPF

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and therefore expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The successful applicant will be required to register to the DBS Update Service to enable the Council to undertake rechecks throughout your employment. The cost to register is £13 and can be claimed back upon commencement to the role but will not be refunded if you do not accept the offer of employment.
