leading national law firm that is seeking a
Newly Qualified Solicitor to join its highly regarded
Charities team, based in either Newcastle or Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer who is passionate about making a real difference, while working in a dynamic and supportive team environment.
The Role As part of this nationally recognised team, you’ll work with a wide range of clients in the charitable and not-for-profit sector, including:
- Major service providers and grant-making bodies
- Religious organisations and professional societies
- Educational institutions such as universities, independent schools, and academies
- Social enterprises, CICs, and national/international NGOs
You’ll handle varied and engaging legal work involving charity governance, regulatory advice, contracts, mergers, restructures, and more—often collaborating with colleagues in corporate, real estate, and commercial teams.
This is a chance to build genuine client relationships and develop your technical expertise in a specialist field that is both intellectually rewarding and socially impactful.
What We're Looking For We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Genuine enthusiasm for charities and not-for-profit work
- Newly Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) status (or qualifying in 2025)
- Excellent drafting and communication skills, and a collaborative, client-focused mindset
- A 2:1 degree (or equivalent) and ideally experience managing client relationships
- A willingness to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a tight-knit, multidisciplinary team
Prior experience in charity law is a plus, but not essential—we’re open to candidates from commercial, public, or education sector backgrounds who are looking to pivot into this purpose-led space.
