Job summary

The Crown Prosecution Service in England and Wales offers an entry-level crown prosecutor role, suitable for newly qualified lawyers or those with no criminal law experience. You will train and gain exposure across magistrates' court cases, starting with straightforward matters and progressing to more complex work.

With a four-month training plan and structured induction, you will work with police and investigators, support victims, and develop advocacy skills as you progress toward senior crown

Qualifications

• Junior role, suitable for NQ - 3 years PQE
• No requirement for criminal law experience, on-job training

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present cases for prosecution in the magistrates' court
• Advise police and investigators on casework in summary-only and some either-way offences
• Decide, based on evidence, whether prosecutions should proceed or be discontinued in matters heard in the magistrates' court
• Explain our decisions clearly to stakeholders including magistrates, counsel, victims, witnesses and the police
• Work effectively as part of a multiskilled team
