Job description

Service Care Legal are recruiting on behalf of an established legal practice in East London is looking to recruit a newly qualified solicitor to join its Criminal Law department. The role involves representing clients at police stations and magistrates’ courts throughout London, particularly in the East and South areas.

Job Title: Newly Qualified Criminal Solicitor
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: East London

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising and attending clients in police custody and magistrates’ court hearings
  • Preparing criminal cases for both magistrates’ and crown court trials
  • Managing a busy and varied caseload under supervision
  • Participating in out-of-hours duty rota work
  • Ensuring professional and sensitive support for vulnerable clients

Skills and Experience
  • A qualified Solicitor with a current practising certificate between 0-1 years’ PQE
  • Experience as a trainee or paralegal within a criminal department would be essential for this position
  • Case preparation experience in both magistrates’ and crown courts
  • Police Station Representative Accreditation
