Job summary

Corin Group, a leading medtech company in the UK, is seeking a Mechanical/Biomedical Engineer to join its design team in Cirencester. You will design medical devices and orthopaedic instrumentation, using CAD, FEA and PLM tools, and produce robust design packages for transfer to production.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent), plus strong problem-solving, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Product Design, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in medical device design or regulated industries is desirable
  • Strong understanding of design processes, preferably orthopaedics
  • Proficiency with CAD/FEA/PLM tools and high computer literacy
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, ability to handle priorities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Design medical and mechanical devices using CAD, FEA, and PLM software
  • Develop concept and detailed designs and contribute to brainstorming sessions
  • Create full design packages to support production transfer with Production and Quality teams
  • Maintain design documentation including drawings, process sheets and inspection docs
  • Produce design control, risk management docs, and technical reports per procedures and standards
  • Support bioengineering activities with biomechanical expertise
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory teams on compliant product introductions
  • Lead or contribute to design CAPA projects and issue resolution

This is an opportunity to join a fantastic medtech company with an exciting product portfolio and project pipeline during a phase of rapid expansion.

We arelooking for candidates seeking first employment or with a few years experience in the areas of product design and product development of Medical Devices.

The ideal applicant has a degree in Medical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience and knowledge, alongside CAD and analytical skills.

What you’ll do
  • Design medical and mechanical devices, ideally orthopaedic implants and instrumentation, using CAD, FEA, and PLM software
  • Develop concept and detailed designs, contributing to brainstorming and problem-solving activities
  • Generate full design packages to support transfer to production, collaborating with Production and Quality teams
  • Create, maintain, and manage design documentation including manufacturing drawings, process sheets, and inspection documentation
  • Produce and maintain design control, risk management documentation, and technical reports in line with internal procedures and quality standards
  • Support bioengineering activities by providing biomechanical expertise
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Quality, and Regulatory teams to ensure compliant product introduction
  • Manage design issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Lead or contribute to key aspects of design and CAPA projects
  • Support ongoing maintenance and improvements of existing product systems
  • Present key project updates to stakeholders, including customers where required
About You
  • Degree (BEng/BSc) in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in medical device design or other highly regulated industries is desirable
  • Strong understanding of design processes, ideally within orthopaedics
  • High level of computer literacy, including design software
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and keen to take ownership of work
  • Demonstrates initiative and a can-do attitude with the ability to think creatively
