Job summary

Humdinger is seeking an NPD Technologist for its Sherburn in Elmet site to help bring innovative snacking and confectionery products from concept to launch. This temporary full-time role supports the development process, ensures customer requirements and internal standards are met, and coordinates with multiple teams.

The position involves managing samples, packaging development, and QA tasks within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Closing date is 25 September 2026.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a food science/technical subject or equivalent experience.
• Practical experience in developing food products, ideally in snacking or confectionery.
• Excellent communication skills at technical and commercial levels.
• Strong team player with adaptability to changing priorities.
• Good IT skills and experience with recipe management systems.
• Solid project management and organisational skills.
• Detail-conscious and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the development process by following the NPD timeline and liaising with internal and external teams to meet requirements (ingredients, equipment, cost, HACCP, Recipe Professor).
• Manage sample requests and keep the NPD Manager and Innovations Team updated on progress.
• Work with Supplier Assurance to ensure new raw materials meet customer codes and company standards.
• Record weights, process methods and recipes in the Recipe Professor system and update throughout development.
• Complete Feasibility Assessments with Operations, Technical, and Supply Chain teams and identify risks before customer presentations.
• Document and track the Bill of Materials from development to launch.
• Send ‘Sent sample’ emails with sign-off comments from NPD Manager.
• Assist Packaging Developer in defining pack sizes and coordinate with Factory for pre-trial objectives.
• Ensure post-trial reports are documented and are followed up for a smooth product launch.
• Periodically evaluate shelf life and document nutritional data for customer approval.
• Attend internal and customer-facing meetings and provide regular updates on product development.
