Job summary

Quanex is seeking an NPD Procurement Specialist to act as the focal point for procurement on New Product Development projects at our Wolverhampton site. You will manage supplier selection, RFQ processes and onboarding while aligning with global sourcing strategies.

The role requires experience in procurement and project execution, with a multinational, supply-base mindset. You will report to the Procurement Leader and collaborate across engineering and supply teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is desirable in engineering, procurement or a business-related discipline.
• Proven experience of procurement experience, with previous experience in project execution.
• CIPS accredited
• Working in a multinational environment with a global supply base.

Responsibilities

• Lead, as the operational Procurement representative, the selection, evaluation and qualification of suppliers for new components and finished products.
• Monitor NPD milestones and requirements, tracking progress against quality, cost and schedule targets.
• Develops structured action plans to resolve projects or process bottlenecks linked to Procurement processes.
• Collaborate closely with the Procurement Commodity Buyers to align operational activities with global sourcing strategies.
• Lead supplier negotiations under the guidance of the Procurement Leader and the Buyer.
• Coordinate activities between Engineering and suppliers involved in product development projects, defining technical requirements and validation.

How the role will make an impact:

Quanex requires an NPD Procurement Specialist who will act as the key focal point for the procurement department as part of New Product Development (NPD) projects.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Lead,as the operational Procurement representative, the selection, evaluation and qualification of suppliers for new components and finished products. This includes RFQ issuance and analysis—evaluating both economic competitiveness and supply chain solidity and sustainability—as well as supporting make-or-buy analyses and onboarding new suppliers in alignment with the corporate policies.
• Monitor NPD milestones and requirements, tracking progress against quality, cost and schedule targets.
• Develops structured action plans to resolve projects or process bottlenecks and criticalities linked to the Procurement processes.
• Collaborate closely with the Procurement Commodity Buyers to align operational activities with global sourcing strategies.
• Lead supplier negotiations under the guidance and supervision of the Procurement Leader and the Buyer.
• Coordinateactivities between the Engineering team and suppliers involved in product development projects, with the aim of clearly defining technical requirements, performance and final validation of components.
