We are seeking to appoint 6 new NPC Piping Club Tutors to work within our Youth Engagement Team.
Over the past three years, we have established Piping Clubs across Glasgow which now engage 52 participants consistently (at the National Piping Centre and in local communities). Tutors service these clubs, delivering fun, inclusive and affordable music-making sessions. We’re looking to expand our team as the project grows and develops in Glasgow and in other regions of Scotland.
These roles are a vital part of our ecosystem, offering an affordable route into learning the instrument, supporting the hard work done by local teachers, and helping young people develop key life skills along the way.
As a Club Tutor you will have the opportunity to develop your career within the creative sector and build more confidence as a practitioner. It’s also an opportunity to demonstrate credible teaching expertise through working as part of the NPC’s world-renowned team.
We are looking for experienced and aspiring tutors who are responsible, driven, capable, and have an interest in delivering bespoke and nurturing tuition to children and young people from all backgrounds in Scotland.
Aimed at young people aged 7-17, sessions are delivered in small groups here at the National Piping Centre in McPhater Street on Saturdays, and across Glasgow on weekdays. We currently have three community-based Piping Clubs; Castlemilk, Ibrox and Pollokshields. We also have plans to add two more club locations this year.
Sessions are led by two tutors, and involve music-making games, educational worksheets, and instrumental instruction. Each session lasts 45 mins.
Club Tutors join the National Piping Centre team as Associate Tutors, under the conditions of our ‘Casual Workers’ contract. Club Tutors are required to be available for a substantial number of the Club's term dates (See Job Pack).
Piping Club Tutors are paid £20/hour for delivery days, team meetings and training days. To acknowledge the extra dedication required (ie. travel to offsite venue), Club Tutors will also be entitled to claim a Club Tutor Supplement: £15 for each delivery session at an off-site venue.
