About the Job:

Wigton Medical Practice is seeking an enthusiastic, conscientious, and motivated Health Care Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will hold the Skills for Care Certificate or equivalent, or have proven experience in this role.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will support the nursing staff and provide a range of clinical care within your scope of practice.

You should have a calm, confident, and helpful demeanor, with excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure. A good standard of education and excellent IT skills are essential.

You should be comfortable with technology and adaptable to change, as NHS services are continually evolving to meet emerging healthcare needs.

Main duties of the job
  • The role of a Health Care Assistant is well established within our nursing team and has developed over the years to include a wide range of clinical and support services.
  • You will work autonomously within a clearly defined role and assist clinical staff with treatment, preventative care, health promotion, and patient education.
  • The successful candidate will have experience with clinical procedures such as venepuncture, blood pressure monitoring, urinalysis, and ECGs. Additionally, responsibilities include administering injections and vaccinations according to schedule and supporting diabetic services, including diabetic foot checks. A good understanding of infection control, safeguarding, and accurate record-keeping is required.
