Job responsibilities

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, work with all members of the multidisciplinary team to contribute to the provision of high standards of patient care. The role emphasizes enhancing clinical skills in:

  • Physiological observation recording
  • Intravenous cannulation
  • ECG recording
  • Venepuncture
  • Catheterisation (female)
  • Clerical duties such as management of notes, record keeping, and handling confidential information
  • Blood Glucose recording
  • Obtaining swabs, cultures, and specimens

  • Accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the registered nurse, who is professionally accountable for care delivery.
  • Perform duties as specified in the Trust's Approved Core Task List for Health Care Assistants qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Care/Health and Social Care.
  • Report any patient concerns or changes in clinical condition to registered staff.
  • Document all care provided, ensuring confidentiality, and have records countersigned by a registered nurse.
  • Be aware of and respond appropriately to clinical emergencies to ensure patient safety.
  • Adhere to all Trust policies, procedures, and nursing guidelines when performing activities.
  • Welcome patients and participate in the admission process under supervision.
  • Provide high-quality, individualized personal nursing care following Essence of Care standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.
