About the Job:

Job summary

To be the first point of contact for patients. To assist in the provision of the service and contribute to the effective running of the Department, ensuring a quality patient experience.

Assist registered nursing staff with providing individualized care, and assess patients by obtaining their height, weight, BP, ECG, MRSA & CPR screening, and actioning results.

Provide care and support to relatives and carers attending the Department.

The applicant should be an effective team member, contribute to resource management, and be able to work independently.

Provide clinical and clerical support to the multidisciplinary team.

Gather information from other trusts, MDT team, GPs, etc., assist in clinics, pre-op, ambulatory, and C3, and partake in urinary analysis.

Main duties of the job
  • Assist in preparation and cleaning of the environment before and after clinics. Ensure all equipment is available, replenish and maintain stocks of surgical supplies, undertake routine tasks under supervision, prepare notes and equipment, and carry out venepuncture and hemocue blood tests.
  • Occasionally make appointments, print out requests for MRSA, CPE, and blood tests, perform MRSA swab testing (excluding day cases), conduct various screening tests (urine, CPE rectal swabs, pregnancy tests), and accurately record baseline observations (blood pressure, ECG, weight, height, BMI).
  • Understand clinical requirements for ECGs, identify abnormal results, manage patient flow, assist in obtaining results, communicate with the multidisciplinary team, and handle patient inquiries, escalating as needed.
