Job summary

Dogs for Good is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to work remotely with regular travel across the northwest and occasional trips to Banbury HQ. This fixed-term contract runs until 31 December 2027, with possible extension subject to funding.

You will build relationships with volunteers, clients, staff and partners, enabling high-quality dog-assisted interventions and community programs. You will connect with local communities in Wigan and surrounding areas, help establish a service

Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.
  • Experience building connections with local organisations in the NW.
  • Excellent communication with volunteers, clients, families and partners.
  • Ability to create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
  • Ability to assess and report on project progress, issues and risks.
  • Experience in data collection and input to inform decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Volunteer Management: actively recruit, support and manage volunteers across the northwest.
  • Raise Awareness: lead initiatives to promote the work and build partnerships.
  • Community Engagement: be the main local contact for the Dogs for Good community.
  • Service Integration: align services within the Hub for maximum impact.
  • Drive targets: help deliver services and meet objectives in your area.
  • Evaluation and Reporting: collect data and report impact with actionable insights.
  • Service Support: help staff coordinate venues for delivery of services.
  • Fundraising: seek local funding opportunities and support projects.
  • Safeguarding: follow safeguarding policy to protect clients, including vulnerable groups.
  • Additional Tasks: perform duties as directed by line manager.
