Job description

ABC Teachers is seeking a vocational/Life Skills Practitioner (Non-Qualified Teaching Role) to work in an SEN School in Leamington Spa on a full-time permanent basis, supporting and educating students aged with Autism.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual with SEN experience helping young people develop in line with their academic and pastoral targets.

  • Deliver engaging group sessions focused on vocational and life skills.
  • Working from a purpose-designed base created for a small cohort of students.
  • Contribute to a warm, homely environment that supports emotional engagement and trust-building.
  • Play a key role in nurturing students and providing them with a personalised, supportive education experience.

  • An independent special school located in the heart of Warwickshire, who provide a specialised educational environment for young people aged 11 to 19 with AutismSpectrum Disorder (ASD), all of whom have an Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans.

About you:

  • Proven experience working with children and young people with Autism, including those with complex needs.
  • Ability to teach ICT & Computing effectively to students across a wide range of ages and abilities.
  • A deep and practical understanding of Autism, ideally supported by Autism Education Level 1 or Level 2 training.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both students and colleagues.

Desirable skills/experience

  • HLTA qualification
  • Competent in administering first aid.
  • Experience of teaching in a variety of educational settings.
  • A History of working with children who are disengaged with education .
