Company Overview:

We are a leading regional player in the aggregates and construction materials sector, with a turnover of approximately £120 million. Operating across the Midlands and surrounding regions, the business has a strong market presence, a reputation for reliability, and ambitious plans for continued growth, diversification, and sustainability.

To support the next stage of our development—including operational expansion, potential acquisitions, and evolving ESG priorities—we are seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director to join our Board.

Role Overview:

As a Non-Executive Director, you will provide independent oversight, strategic counsel, and governance expertise to support the Executive Team and shareholders. You will challenge constructively, offer sector insight, and contribute to the long-term success and resilience of the business.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Participate in quarterly Board meetings and ad hoc strategic sessions

Provide independent judgement on strategy, performance, and risk

Support the Board in evaluating growth opportunities, M&A, and capital investments

Ensure sound financial and operational governance

Champion ESG, sustainability, and health & safety best practices

Contribute to succession planning, leadership development, and Board effectiveness

Act as a sounding board for the CEO and senior management team

Qualifications

Candidate Profile:

Proven Board-level or senior leadership experience, ideally in construction, aggregates, heavy industry, or infrastructure

Strong understanding of commercial, operational, and financial drivers in a mid-sized or family-owned business

Prior experience as a Non-Executive Director or Trustee is advantageous, though not essential

Unquestionable integrity, independence of mind, and sound judgement

Collaborative style, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively

Midlands-based or with strong familiarity with the regional business environment

Additional Information:

Time commitment: Approx. 12–16 days per year (Board meetings, preparation, strategic input)

Remuneration: Competitive, with appropriate compensation for time and experience
