Role: Board Member

You will work alongside Executive and Non-executive Director colleagues to constructively challenge and support the development of proposals on strategies, scrutinise the performance of management in meeting agreed goals, and satisfy yourself that financial controls and risk management systems are robust and effective.

Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking a compassionate leader with a genuine commitment to patients and the promotion of excellent health care services. Essential is relevant senior leadership experience in the private, public, or voluntary sector and a good understanding of the workings of the NHS, particularly NHS Foundation Trusts. In considering the balance of skills, experience and knowledge across the Trust Board we are particularly interested in applicants with senior leadership/experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Clinical background (Nursing, Allied Health Professional, Clinical Scientist, Pharmacist, Medical).

That said, we recognise that people may have skills or experience that could make a constructive contribution to healthcare and the Trust even if not easily matched to our preferred criteria. If you don\'t obviously fit the specification but think you have relevant knowledge or aptitudes, please consider getting in touch. Royal Papworth is the UK\'s leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge. We perform the most heart and/or lung transplants in the UK and carried out the UK\'s first successful heart transplant in 1979.
