Salaried Partner, Insurance Risk and Regulation – Risk Partner

EY’s UK Insurance Risk and Regulation team has a track record of delivering market leading insights and value to our clients.

Over the past 24 months, we have developed and grown our business with a focus on supporting clients navigate regulatory change, market changes and maturing risk expectations working with General Insurers, Life & Pensions Firms and London Market businesses.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced risk professional to join our team as a Salaried Partner specializing who can lead and grow further our business, looking to build on our successes. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing projects that focus on transforming risk management practices within our clients.

Our Insurance Risk and Regulation has an exciting growth trajectory working closely alongside our market leading Insurance practice:

The opportunity

The opportunity is to lead the Risk go-to-market effort within the Insurance Risk and Regulation team, working closely with the existing Partners within the Insurance Risk and Regulation team and the wider UK Insurance Partner group and Insurance community within EY.

This role offers exceptional opportunities for personal growth and advancement, to develop your wider business knowledge, and to build internal and external relationships across disciplines and across borders.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead large and complex engagements in the risk transformation space from strategy to execution, whilst providing insights to our clients and working with other EY teams.
  • Business development; identify, originate and convert Risk opportunities for the team and wider insurance practice. As part of this you will develop long-term trusted advisor relationships with clients across the C-suite (CRO, CCO, CFO, CEO, Chief Actuary and NEDs).
  • Iterate and build meaningful propositions around the biggest risk challenges in the market and lead campaigns on these with key market contacts.
  • Effectively leverage your knowledge and experience to support the delivery of key Risk projects, nurture valuable relationships both within EY and with clients, and develop strong capabilities through both formal training and working with senior mentors and talented colleagues.
  • Build and lead high performing engagement teams, coaching, mentoring and serving as a role model for our people, and supporting and fostering a positive learning culture.
  • Contribute to the running of the Insurance Risk and Regulation team, input into strategy and lead key initiatives.
  • Elevate EY’s transformation brand with our clients through a combination of Thought Leadership and external events.


Skills and attributes for success

We are looking for people with a track record of developing and delivering new business opportunities on Risk within a consulting environment. Candidates should have:

  • Deep Risk Management n skillset supported by knowledge and understanding of both market practices and regulatory expectations within the insurance market .
  • Technical and Industry Expertise – Understanding of the current market trends in Risk and Risk Transformation and how this is affecting insurers’ their operating model.
  • Strong client management skills to lead the dialogue with client project sponsors and fully manage expectations of delivery, content, timescales and cost.
  • A passion for developing people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring.
  • The ability to build and manage close client relationships.
  • The ability to build and maintain partnerships with other areas of EY and external vendors.
  • The ability to identify and mitigate risks on engagements.
  • Drive and enthusiasm to lead combined with a desire to collaborate, whilst making your presence felt within our collegiate team.
  • Development of ideas - Play your part in the development of intellectual property to support sales-oriented client interaction.

To qualify for the role, you must have some or all of the following:

  • Significant risk experience with a track record of successfully delivering large and complex risk programmes.
  • Deep knowledge of risk management operating models within insurance through working for an insurer directly or a top tier consultancy or a specialist financial services consultancy.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrable experience of building high performing teams and nurturing talent.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, business writing and professional skills, including being able to liaise with both technical and business contacts at our clients.
  • Ability to successfully deliver multiple engagements, exceed client expectations, manage commercial aspects (e.g. contracts, billing and budgets), and manage quality and risk.
  • Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and manage large cross functional projects.
  • Intellectual strength / flexibility to rapidly understand complex problems and rationalise these into workable solutions which can then be delivered.
  • Be a problem solver; tailoring what you have learnt from your experiences to date to different client problems to help design and implement the solution.
  • Strong academic record including a degree.
