Non-Craft Operative

Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth

Support essential projects and build new skills

gap personnel are looking for motivated and reliable Non-Craft Operatives to join our client’s team at Devonport Dockyard. In this varied role, you’ll carry out a wide range of tasks across the site, supporting major engineering projects that help protect national capability.

Whether you already have experience or are eager to learn, this is an opportunity to gain valuable skills, work as part of a dedicated team, and contribute to projects of real significance.

What you’ll do

  • Undertake diverse site tasks, sometimes working at height or in confined spaces.
  • Complete job-specific training to build your skills and knowledge.
  • Support site operations safely and efficiently, following established procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate effectively to get the job done.

What we’re looking for

  • A full clean driving licence.
  • Willingness to train on counterbalance forklift trucks (FLT) and MEWP operation (existing licences are desirable).
  • Positive attitude towards Health & Safety, including the confidence to challenge unsafe acts.
  • Understanding of the role of the business and basic site processes (training provided).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to be clean shaven for face fit testing (for roles that require it).
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and carry out specialist cleaning tasks, including working as a Nuclear Reactor cleaner (not required for all roles).

Additional requirements

  • Ability to meet Ministry of Defence security clearance standards.
  • Completion of a medical assessment before employment.
