Job summary

A Construction Senior Associate with 5+ years’ PQE is sought to join a Magic Circle construction team in London. You will advise on development projects, procurement strategies and major infrastructure mandates for leading developers, sponsors and financial institutions across the UK, Europe and international markets.

You will work closely with renowned partners in a collaborative environment, handling cross-border matters and delivering high-quality, commercially focused solutions from day one.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with 5+ years of Construction experience in a leading international firm.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills for contracts, warranties and procurement documents.
• Proactive, client-facing with ability to manage matters autonomously and supervise juniors.

Job description

An outstanding opportunity for a Construction Senior Associate (5+ PQE) to join a highly regarded Construction team at a Magic Circle law firm in London.

The team advises many of the world's leading developers, contractors, private equity sponsors, infrastructure funds, financial institutions, investors and multinational organisations on sophisticated construction, development and infrastructure projects across the UK, Europe and international markets.

The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on complex development projects, large-scale infrastructure mandates, construction procurement strategies and project delivery structures, whilst working closely with highly regarded partners in a collaborative and high-performing environment.

This position offers exposure to some of the most significant and innovative construction and infrastructure projects in the market and represents an excellent platform for continued career progression.

The Role

• Advising clients on a broad range of construction and infrastructure matters including development projects, investment transactions and major capital projects
• Acting for leading developers, infrastructure sponsors, investors, contractors and financial institutions
• Supporting complex domestic and cross-border construction and development projects across multiple jurisdictions
• Drafting and negotiating construction contracts, consultant appointments, collateral warranties and ancillary project documents
• Advising on procurement strategies, project structuring and risk allocation matters
• Working closely with colleagues across real estate, projects, finance, corporate and disputes teams on integrated transactions
• Managing matters day-to-day whilst maintaining strong client relationships and providing commercially focused advice

The Candidate

• England & Wales qualified Solicitor with approximately 5+ years' PQE
• Strong Construction experience gained within a Magic Circle, US or other leading international law firm
• Detailed knowledge of the documents (e.g. JCT and FIDIC contract forms, appointments, warranties, TPRs etc) used in construction procurement transactions with the ability to comfortably draft and negotiate these.
• Familiarity with forward funding / development funding agreements, development agreements, development management agreements, agreements for lease and related documents.
• Extensive experience of the construction and development elements of financing, real estate and corporate transactions.
• Confidence working directly with clients and managing matters autonomously whilst supervising junior lawyers where required
• A proactive and ambitious approach with a genuine desire to work on market-leading projects
