INTERNAL ONLY

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join us in the new Elective Hub at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. This brand new purpose-built Elective Hub opened on the 10th June this year, and we are looking to expand our team to support this new area. You will be part of a small team of ward clerks and reception staff working to facilitate the patient journey through the Elective Hub.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant should have experience in dealing with the general public, possess good IT skills, and remain calm under pressure in this challenging role. Flexibility within contracted hours is required, including providing cover for annual leave and sickness. Full training will be provided.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Welcoming new patients into the Elective Hub, verifying their details, and ensuring notes are in order. Ensuring identity bracelets are available for nursing staff. Preparing sets of required blank documentation for elective patients.
  2. Answering the telephone and responding to questions or requests appropriately.
  3. Requesting and collecting (or delivering when requested) notes from various departments.
  4. Ordering transport for patients as requested by nursing staff, completing appropriate paperwork.
  5. Ensuring records are correctly compiled and completed following patient discharge.
  6. Updating demographics of admitted, transferred, and discharged patients electronically and manually. Ensuring CareFlow demographics accurately reflect the unit's bed status.
  7. Collaborating with the MDT to ensure the smooth operation of the Elective Hub, maintaining high standards, communicating effectively with colleagues, and ensuring health, safety, and cleanliness standards are upheld.
