This high-impact role focuses on replacing legacy SDH infrastructure with a modern Nokia 7750 MPLS Core, delivering critical connectivity across the UK rail network. As part of a 3-year infrastructure rollout in one of the country’s most complex operational environments, you’ll take ownership of the design, implementation, and configuration of next-gen IP/MPLS solutions. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and configuration of a Nokia 7750 MPLS core network
• Replace legacy SDH infrastructure with high-performance IP-based systems
• Liaise closely with operations and delivery teams to ensure reliable, real-time connectivity
• Carry out hands-on configuration, documentation, testing, and deployment
• Travel to East London sites to support implementation and troubleshooting
• Ensure uptime and redundancy for key systems operating in a safety-critical environment

Key Skills Required

• Proven experience with Nokia IP/MPLS platforms (especially 7750 Service Routers)
• Strong understanding of network protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, QoS, etc.)
• Previous experience replacing SDH/legacy telecoms infrastructure is highly beneficial
• Hands-on capability for configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting
• Experience working in transport, rail, or similarly regulated environments is a plus
• UK driving license preferred due to travel between sites
