Noise Engineer – Aviation
Overview

We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Noise Engineer with a specialization in Aviation to join our team in the South-East region. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in Acoustics and Noise & Vibration to address noise challenges in the aviation sector. The ideal candidate will contribute to creating sustainable and innovative solutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks while supporting our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

As a Noise Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Noise Modeling & Analysis: Conduct environmental noise and vibration modeling using advanced tools to forecast and mitigate aviation-related impacts.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all projects align with national and international noise regulations, standards, and best practices, keeping sustainability and community welfare in focus.
  • Design Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical guidance on noise control strategies throughout the design, planning, and construction phases.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively communicate technical findings to clients, regulators, and communities, promoting transparent, inclusive solutions.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports, environmental assessments, and recommendations to address noise and vibration challenges.
  • Innovative Solutions: Develop and implement breakthrough approaches to minimize aviation noise in collaboration with airports, airlines, and urban planners.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and deliverables are met while fostering teamwork.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in AA Acoustics and AA Noise & Vibration, specifically in the aviation sector.
  • Skilled in using state-of-the-art software/tools for noise modeling and simulation.
  • In-depth understanding of aviation infrastructure, including air traffic noise impact.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and deliver high-quality technical reports.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Desirable
  • Membership or Chartership with a relevant professional body (e.g., IOA, IMechE).
  • Knowledge of sound insulation programs for affected communities.
  • Experience in facilitating public consultations on noise mitigation strategies.
  • Awareness of the impacts of climate change on future aviation noise mitigation practices.
Day-to-day

On a typical day as a Noise Engineer, you will:

  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to analyze noise and vibration measurement data.
  • Run simulations and predictive modeling to assess the acoustic impact of aviation operations.
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory bodies, and community representatives to discuss project updates and environmental concerns.
  • Draft detailed analysis and recommendations for mitigating noise impact, tailored to aviation-specific projects.
  • Conduct site visits (as needed) to measure sound levels and assess the effectiveness of existing noise-reduction measures.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in acoustics technology, regulatory changes, and aviation industry trends.
