Paralegal Industrial Disease
Location: Blackburn
Full-Time

My client is looking for a driven and dedicated Paralegal to join their specialist Industrial Disease team, with a focus on Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) claims including those involving the Ministry of Defence.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic legal team making a real difference to the lives of individuals impacted by workplace illness and injury.

What You’ll Be Doing

  1. Managing your own caseload of NIHL and industrial disease claims from initial instruction through to settlement or trial.
  2. Conducting initial assessments, taking detailed witness statements, and securing expert medical evidence.
  3. Drafting legal documentation including letters of claim, schedules of loss, and court documents.
  4. Liaising with clients, medical professionals, barristers, insurers, and defendant solicitors.
  5. Investigating potential breaches under:
    - Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
    - Noise at Work Regulations 1989
    - Health and Safety Regulations 1999
    - Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005
  6. Ensuring procedural compliance with CPR and pre-action protocols.
  7. Staying up to date with the latest developments in industrial disease litigation.

What they’re looking for

  1. Solid experience working on Noise Induced Hearing Loss claims.
  2. In-depth knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and The Limitation Act 1980.
  3. Excellent client care skills: empathetic, professional, and confident.
  4. Strong drafting, legal research, and organisational abilities.
  5. Self-sufficient with the ability to manage a busy caseload independently.
  6. Proficient in case management systems.

Nice to Have

  1. Experience with asbestos exposure, HAVs, or respiratory illness claims.
  2. Familiarity with medical causation and interpreting expert witness reports.
