Job summary

Staff Selection UK Ltd in York is seeking a Nightshift Warehouse Assistant Manager to supervise the nightshift team and support daily warehouse operations. The role focuses on leading people, ensuring accurate picking and loading, and driving safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have supervisory warehouse experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and a solid understanding of WMS and health & safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience leading warehouse teams.
• Experience working in warehouse/logistics/FMCG or food distribution.
• Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good IT and administration skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Nightshift Warehouse Manager with the daily running of the warehouse.
• Lead, motivate and develop the nightshift warehouse team.
• Ensure all picking, consolidation and loading operations are completed accurately and on time.
• Monitor productivity, accuracy and service level KPIs.
• Carry out team briefings, performance reviews and coaching sessions.
• Assist with recruitment, training and succession planning.
• Ensure all Health & Safety, Food Safety and company procedures are followed.
• Maintain high standards of warehouse cleanliness and organisation.
• Help drive continuous improvements across the operation.
• Provide management cover when required.

Nightshift Warehouse Assistant Manager

Location: York

Salary: £34,000 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00pm - 6:30am

We are looking for an experienced Nightshift Warehouse Assistant Manager to join our busy warehouse operation in York. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious warehouse professional with supervisory or management experience who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about leading people and delivering exceptional service.

The Role

As the Nightshift Warehouse Assistant Manager, you will:

• Support the Nightshift Warehouse Manager with the daily running of the warehouse.
• Lead, motivate and develop the nightshift warehouse team.
• Ensure all picking, consolidation and loading operations are completed accurately and on time.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Warehouse Supervisor, Team Manager, Assistant Warehouse Manager or Warehouse Manager.
• Experience leading and developing warehouse teams.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Good IT and administration skills.
• Experience working within a warehouse, logistics, FMCG or food distribution environment.
• Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety procedures.

Desirable

• FLT Licence.
• MHE experience.
• RF Scanner or Voice Picking experience.
• Experience managing budgets and warehouse KPIs.
