Job summary

Arnold Clark in Glasgow is seeking experienced Nightshift Mechanics to join the team. The role covers servicing, repairs and diagnostics on a wide range of vehicles, with training to become EV-accredited and options for salary reviews.

Full-time, night shifts, with generous leave and health benefits. You will work at Hamilton Road Vauxhall, Glasgow, applying attention to detail and a proactive approach to ensure vehicles are roadworthy, while collaborating with a skilled team on diverse models

Qualifications

• Certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 required.
• Experience as a mechanic in automotive industry preferred.
• Ability to work independently or in a busy team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards.
• Diagnose issues using computer-based diagnostic equipment.
• Repair or replace faulty parts and resolve defects.
• Perform DVSA vehicle testing if authorised.
• Road test vehicles to verify repairs.
• Maintain equipment and keep tools in good condition.
• Follow checklists and complete documentation to standard.

Full time: Monday – Thursday 7.30pm – 7am

Mechanics, it wouldn’t work without you. We are currently recruiting for a new Nightshift Technician to help keep our prep centre running smoothly.

Day-to-day duties

• Carrying out servicing, repairs and maintenance to high standards
• Inspecting vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately, using computer-based diagnostic equipment
• Repairing or replacing broken/defective parts and resolving defects
• Carrying out DVSA vehicle testing (if authorised)
• Road testing vehicles to check repairs
• Maintaining equipment and making sure tools are in good condition
• Following checklists to ensure all procedures are completed
• Completing all documentation to the required standard

Essential Skills

• A certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance Level 3 and solid work experience in the automotive industry
• The ability to work in a competent and efficient manner on your own or part of a busy team
• Strong communication skills
• Good attention to detail
• The ability to carry out work to high standards to deadlines
• A proactive and enthusiastic approach
• The ability to accurately follow written and spoken instructions
• A full driving licence
