EHS Advisor - Nightshift – Hinkley Point C (Nuclear New Build Project) Location: Bridgwater, Somerset
Contract Type: Long-term contract / Permanent
Rate/Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Sector: Nuclear / Construction / Engineering
Start Date: ASAP
Working Rotation - 10 on, 4 off

About the Project: Hinkley Point C is the most significant nuclear construction project in Europe, set to deliver low-carbon electricity to over 6 million homes. With thousands of workers on site, this is a career-defining opportunity to be part of a world-class infrastructure programme focused on safety, sustainability, and innovation.

Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced and proactive EHS Advisor to join the Nightshift HSE team on this landmark project. You will support all aspects of Environment, Health and Safety compliance, promoting a strong safety culture across a high-risk, complex site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of the site-wide EHS strategy, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, policies, and nuclear-specific safety standards.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Lead or support investigations into incidents, near misses, and unsafe behaviours.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and site-specific training sessions.
  • Monitor and manage environmental controls, including waste, emissions, spill prevention, and energy usage.
  • Collaborate with construction teams, contractors, and supply chain partners to drive continual improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation is up to date for inspections and regulatory visits.
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (essential).
  • Experience working on major infrastructure, construction, or energy projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations, COSHH, Working at Height, and Permit to Work systems.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of site personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, high-paced environment.
  • BPSS Clearance (or willingness to undergo clearance).
Desirable:
  • Membership of IOSH or IEMA.
  • Experience working on alarge construction project.
  • Environmental management experience or ISO 14001 knowledge.
