Job summary

BGIS is seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer with an electrical bias to join our on-site engineering team at a prestigious commercial property in London.

This nights-only role (4 On 4 Off, 22:00–10:00) requires hands-on maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems, with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. You will use CAFM systems to keep accurate records and support on-site subcontractors.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• Experience in commercial building maintenance or critical environments.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of electrical and mechanical building services.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• HV/LV switching experience.
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Previous experience in flagship commercial office, banking, corporate or critical environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to minimise downtime.
• Maintain lighting, power, emergency lighting, UPS, generators, HVAC, pumps, motors and associated plant.
• Monitor plant performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support subcontractors and specialist service providers on site.
• Complete accurate maintenance records using CAFM systems.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety procedures, permits to work and statutory regulations.
• Deliver a high standard of customer service to building occupants and stakeholders.
