Job summary

Holcim is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter for Torr Works in Somerset on a permanent night shift. You will perform planned maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and use welding and fabrication skills to keep plant equipment running reliably.

Ideal candidates hold a Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent, with solid fitter experience and strong teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety standards. Opportunities for progression and support for family benefits are highlighted.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Mechanical Maintenance (or similar).
• Solid experience as a Fitter with welding, fabrication and fault-finding skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities; initiative and problem-solving mindset.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, maintenance planning and health & safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance and repairs across site equipment to maintain performance and extend asset life.
• Respond quickly and safely to plant breakdowns, implementing temporary fixes and permanent solutions.
• Apply welding, cutting and fabrication skills to support machinery integrity.
• Promote safety culture and rigor in documenting maintenance procedures and best practices.
• Collaborate with site management and other departments to ensure efficient operations.

What you'll be doing:

What you'll bring:
