Job summary

Holcim UK is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our Torr Works maintenance team in Somerset on a permanent night shift. You will service and repair site equipment, ensuring reliability of crushers, conveyors and related plant.

We expect an NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent, solid welding/fabrication skills, fault-finding ability, and strong communication and teamwork to keep operations safe and efficient.

Qualifications

• Experience as a mechanical fitter with welding and fabrication skills.
• Ability to fault-find and troubleshoot heavy-duty plant equipment.
• Good communication and teamwork to support safe maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance and repairs across site equipment.
• Respond quickly to plant breakdowns with temporary fixes and permanent solutions.
• Apply welding, cutting and fabrication to support machinery integrity.
• Help document maintenance procedures and uphold safety best practices.
• Coordinate with site management to ensure efficient operations.

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team at Torr Works on a Permanent Nights basis at our super quarry in the heart of Somerset. From crushers and conveyors to fixed and mobile plant, you’ll work on a wide variety of advanced machinery and infrastructure.

What you'll be doing:

• Carrying out planned maintenance and repairs across site equipment to maintain performance and extend asset life.
• Responding quickly and safely to plant breakdowns , implementing both temporary fixes and permanent solutions.
• Using your technical skills in welding, cutting, and fabrication to support the integrity of our machinery and operations.
• Supporting a culture of safety and excellence , helping to improve and document maintenance procedures and working practices.
• Collaborating closely with site management and other departments to ensure effective and efficient operations.

What you’ll bring:

• A Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Mechanical Maintenance (or similar).
• Solid experience as a Fitter, with proven skills in welding, fabrication, and fault-finding .
• Great communication and team workingskills, along with initiative and a problem-solving mindset.
• A good grasp of engineering drawings, maintenance planning, and health & safety best practices .
