Job summary

Culina Contract Logistics is hiring a Yard Shunter for our Worksop depot. This dedicated yard role focuses on safe shunting, trailer movements and yard flow on a 4-on/4-off pattern with a night shift from 18:00 to 06:00.

You will operate the yard shunting vehicle, perform safety checks, liaise with control staff and ensure timely loading/unloading of trailers while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous yard shunting experience is strongly preferred.
• Dedicated shunting role in a busy yard requires pace, safety and responsibility.
• Current or previous Class 1 licence experience is preferred.
• A safety-first approach and confidence moving trailers in a live operational environment.
• Reliability, good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a wider transport team.

Responsibilities

• Observe and adhere to company rules, site procedures and Health & Safety and Hygiene at all times.
• Move trailers safely on and off loading bays throughout the shift.
• Support yard safety by monitoring, patrolling and maintaining safe yard movements.
• Operate a dedicated yard-based shunting vehicle.
• Help ensure trailers are positioned correctly and loaded on time.
• Conduct daily checks, report defects and complete documentation.
• Carry out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to ops staff.
• Complete trailer checklists and report to operations desk.
• Carry out shunting duties including maintenance and safety checks.
• Liaise with warehouse control and goods-in staff for smooth loading/unloading.
• Complete vehicle downloads as per company policy.
• Monitor services/MOTs and liaise with Transport Office and service vendors.
• Assist with fuel delivery / manual dip of fuel.
• Keep yard clean and tidy.
• Liaise with Transport Office on promotions and livery schedules.
• Manage the flow of traffic in and out of the yard.
