Job summary

Aspion is seeking an experienced Transport Planner/Night Supervisor to join its night operation in Lutterworth. The role involves coordinating overnight trunking across the network, ensuring schedules are met and service levels maintained, and managing drivers in real time on night shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience as Transport Planner/Night Planner or similar.
• Experience in trunking, distribution, parcel, pallet or network transport operations." highly advantageous"
• Strong understanding of UK trunking and depot-to-depot movements.
• Experience planning and managing a fleet in time-critical transport environment.
• Excellent knowledge of UK road networks.
• Strong knowledge of tachograph legislation, drivers' hours and WTD.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate the overnight trunking network; allocate vehicles to trunk runs.
• Monitor trunk departures/arrivals; ensure schedules and service levels.
• Replan in real-time when vehicles are delayed or priorities change.
• Maintain regular communication with drivers; provide instructions and support.
• Monitor vehicle/driver movements; address delays proactively.
• Manage driver hours in line with WTD and tachograph rules.
• Maximise vehicle utilisation; ensure fleet capacity is used effectively.
• Coordinate trailer/vehicle movements between depots and network locations.
• Liaise with depots and customer service to ensure smooth flow.
• Investigate and resolve issues quickly; escalate significant problems.
